Chanel Sa Vie

Last year, Justine Picardie released `Coco Chanel: The Legend and The Life.` Karl Lagerfeld enjoyed the bio so much that it inspired him to sketch Coco Chanel for a new edition that will be published by Steidl.
Picardie and Lagerfeld will host a cocktail reception for the 2nd edition at Galignani, one of Lagerfeld’s favorite bookstores in Paris. A German version releases in April and the English version will release in June.
Chic Parisians paying court to Lagerfeld and Ms Picardie – the brilliant British writer – included actress Sandrine Kiberlain, antiquaire Pierre Passebon, decorator Vincent Darré as well as Coco Chanel’s great nephew: Guillaume Labrunie. “My daughter and I are all that remains of Tante Coco’s family,” he said.

Dior Electric Tropics Collection Summer 2011

If, in summer, your daydreams revolve around exotic vacations in glamorous locales, well The House if Dior invites us on an exhilarating journey to the Tropics for his Spring/Summer 2011 collection with their new collection Electric Tropics.
Dior’s creative director of makeup, Tyen, took inspiration from “paradise” to create a line with floral motifs, dresses with sun-steeped prints, feathers and exotic embroidery, ensembles that explore the borders between masculinity and femininity with fresh sensuality. Sailor uniforms get sassy with lace, shagreen prints and crowns of hibiscus, orchids and South Pacific palm trees. The makeup look highlights the contrast between audacious neon colors and sun-kissed skin.

Lady Gaga Covers Harper`s Bazaar May 2011

Lady Gaga is a couture diva for the May 2011 issue of Harper’s Bazaar US. Photographed by Terry Richardson the singer dons pieces from the likes of Tex Saverio, Dior, Versace ,Thierry Mugler and Alexander McQueen.

For the provocative pop star, all the world’s a stage. Why? Because she was born that way.
In her interview with the mag the star opens up about her body, fashion statements, what she thinks about plastic surgery, and more.

“I have never had plastic surgery, and there are many pop singers who have. I think that promoting insecurity in the form of plastic surgery is infinitely more harmful than an artistic expression related to body modification.  I am an artist, and I have the ability and the free will to choose the way the world will envision me.”

Dior Haute Couture dress (by special order). Thierry Mugler vintage mask and gloves
“I had all these number-one records, and I had sold all these albums, and it was sort of this turning point: Am I going to try and embrace Hollywood and assimilate to that culture?  I put my toe in that water, and it was a Kegel-exercise vaginal reaction where I clenched and had to retract immediately.  I ran furiously back to New York, to my old apartment, and I hung out with my friends, and I went to the same bars.”

Alexander McQueen dress and mask (by special order)
“The true luxury of my success is that I can do it all on my own terms now, even though the roller-coaster ride is still going. But now i own the roller coaster. I own the whole theme park, actually.”

'Born This Way' will have a tour, and after that tour will come another album and another Grammy performance, and the cycle continues."

MET Ball Gala MakeUp

As I was announcing few days ago, the Metropolitan Museum of Art's has opened the doors to the Alexander McQueen exhibit, titled "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty." The showcase, which will be open to the public from May 4 through July 31, includes roughly 100 pieces and already sounds beyond incredible. So far it seems that Vogue's annual Costume Institute Gala of this year is even more fabulous, heart-stopping, and emotional affair than it has been in years.

Here is the makeup some of the celebrities wear and how to do it yourself:

Blake Lively had her makeup done by celebrity makeup artist Vivian Baker.
Makeup How-to:
Vivian first used CHANEL Sublimage Essential Revitalizing Concentrate to prepare Blake’s skin. Next, she lightly swiped CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 in Beige-Désert across her face and added Guerlain Terracotta Concealer 02.
On the apples of her cheeks, Vivian used Stila Petunia Blush and lightly brushed CHANEL Moisturizing Bronzing Powder in Terre Ambre over her nose, forehead and jawline. She then layered Becca Mermaid Shimmering Eyeshadow and the gold shade from the CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Spices on the eye and finished with CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir.
The look was completed with CHANEL Rouge Allure Gloss in Genie and CHANEL Glossimer in Pensée.

Amy Adams had her makeup done by celebrity makeup artist Stephen Solitto
Makeup How-to:
`To start the process, I primed Amy’s face with CHANEL Sublimage Essential Regenerating Fluid. This moisturizer is so luxurious; it really feels likes it’s working on your skin to get it in the best condition before the big night.
Amy has beautiful skin, but for the red carpet it needs to be perfection. CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 in Beige – Pastel is how I achieved that with her. It gives flawlessly light coverage so your skin looks its best. Healthy, but not too shiny.
I love doing Amy’s eyes because they are so perfectly shaped and as soon as you put anything on them they pop. To make them stand out tonight I lined her upper lids with CHANEL Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Cassis. To be dramatic and get swept up in the glamour of the Met Ball, I dragged this line way out past the lashes as well. Next, I swept the deeper purple shade in the CHANEL Eyeshadow Duo in Misty-Soft over the Cassis to blend and soften from lash line all the way to brow. I also took the brush and applied this shade to her lower lash line connecting this to the upsweep on her lids.
To pop the eyes from underneath, I used CHANEL Cassis again on her lower lash line and to make sure the color match wasn’t too precious I dusted the outer upper and lower corners of her eye with the darker grey shade in the CHANEL Eyeshadow Duo in Gris-Subtil. I topped off her look with Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir on both the upper and lower lashes.
On Amy’s cheeks, I used CHANEL Powder Blush in Rose Dust as it gave her the perfect flush she needed. To pull her whole look together, I applied CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Bel-Ami. This lip is strong, but wearable and a perfect balance to her smoky eye.
To add a final touch, I applied CHANEL Nail Colour in Black Satin to her hands, and when she left for the Met Ball she looked like the movie star she is. `

Christina Hendricks had her makeup done by celebrity makeup artist Vanessa Scali
Makeup How-to:
`First, I prepared her skin by using CHANEL Sublimage La Crème. This cream is rich, luxurious and penetrating. Then I applied CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 in Beige-Pastel. This formula is so exciting! From the moment I tried it, it has been a staple in my bag. It’s effortless to apply and light as air — perfect for making the skin look nude, but flawless. CHANEL Powder Blush in Rose Petale was applied to the apples of the cheeks blending outward.
For definition and intensity, I lined her eyes with CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Noir at the base of the lashes and on the inside rim of the eye (one of my favorite ways to secretly make lashes look thicker and define the eyes is to line the inside rim, on the waterline).
Then using CHANEL Makeup Shadow/ Liner Brush #4, I smudged the line for a softer effect. Using the rich copper shade from the CHANEL Quadra Eye Shadow in Spices, I applied color from the lash line to just above the crease and swept past the natural outer corner to exaggerate and elongate the eye. This color continues under the bottom lashes, blended well.
Then to highlight the brow bone, I used a touch of CHANEL Fluid Iridescent Eyeshadow in Delta. I finished the eye by framing it with lush, dramatic lashes – CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir. You can never have too many lashes and this mascara really delivers.
For lips I wanted a flush, clean look so I used CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Sari D’Eau. And the last touch was a dusting of CHANEL Natural Finish Pressed Powder in Clair – Translucent 1 on her T-zone.`

Dianna Agron had her makeup done by celebrity makeup artist Angela Levin.
Makeup How-to:
Angela prepped Dianna’s skin with CHANEL Sublimage La Crème and then applied CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 in Beige Rose – Tendre to even out her skin, adding CHANEL Éclat Lumière Face Pen in Beige Rosé under the eyes, and setting the look with CHANEL Natural Finish Pressed Powder in Clair – Translucent 1.
For the eyes, Angela used CHANEL Illusion D’Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Ebloui and Mirifique (available in July 2011), she then used Talika Eye Brow Extender in Light Brown to shape the eyes, and completed the eyes with CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir.
Dianna’s look was finished with CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Boy on the lips and CHANEL Powder Blush in Orchid Rose on the cheeks.

Emma Stone had her makeup done by celebrity makeup artist Rachel Goodwin
Makeup How-to:
`On her skin, I used CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 in Beige Rosé- Pastel. This lightweight, luminous formula allowed me to perfectly even out her skin while still letting her gorgeous freckles to show. I’m obsessed with her freckles!
On her eyes, I used a wash of pale pink shimmer from CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Lilium on the entire lid; then I boosted her lash line with two coats of CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir after placing Ardel individual lashes to the end of her eyes only.
I finished by lining her inner eyelid with CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Clair for a subtle contrast. `

Gwyneth Paltrow had her makeup done by celebrity makeup artist Angelia Levin
Makeup How-to:
Angela started with the skin using CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 in Beige-Sienne.
She then focused on her eyes and cheeks using the CHANEL Exclusive Creation Lumières Byzantines de Chanel; she used all five palette colors to create a luxurious, alluring look for her eyes and cheeks.
On the eye lids, Angela used the silvery shade from the CHANEL Quadra Eyeshaodw in Mystic Eyes as well as the brown shade, using an angled brush. Lastly, to frame the eye she used CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir.
To finish off the look Angela used CHANEL Powder Blush in Espiègle on the cheeks and CHANEL Rouge Allure Gloss in Imaginaire on the lips.

Lea Michele wore Escada, while Melanie Inglessis created a natural look for Lea with a little definition on eyes but kept it really chic and modern. Inglessis used Lancome.
Makeup How-to:
-Face: Teint Miracle Foundation, Star Bronzer Long Lasting Bronzing Powder, Natural Glow in Solaire
-Eyes: Color Design Eye Brightening All-In-One 5, Shadow & Liner Palette in Bronze Amour, Oscillation Intensity Mascara in Black
-Lips: L’Absolu Nu in Sheer Mousse, Juicy Tubes in Simmer

Michelle Williams had her makeup done by celebrity makeup artist Jeanine Lobell
Makeup How-to:
`I started by applying with my fingers, CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 in Beige-Pastel very lightly all over the face and under the eyes; then I set it with the CHANEL Natural Finish Pressed Powder in Clair – Translucent 1.
For her eyes, I used the CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Mystic Eyes applying the palest shade all over they eye area to act as a base so I was able to smoothly blend the other shades into it. I then applied the softer of the brown shades in the crease of the eye, wrapping it as a smoky liner under the eye.
Then I added the darker brown shade in the upper lash line. I used CHANEL Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Espresso inside the eye and as a sharper line on the top eyelash line. Lastly, I used CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir on the top and bottom lashes.
I used the CHANEL Precision Brow Definer in Soft Brown in the brows, above the brow to the outside of the brow, to create an arch and filling in below and on the inside.
I used CHANEL Powder Blush in Tempting Beige, as it works great as a contouring cheek color. I used it under the cheek bone, fanning it up over apples of cheeks.
For her lips, I used CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Canotier for a pale, beige-gold light wash on the lips to keep everything soft and balanced.`

Penelope Cruz had her makeup done by Mathew Van Leeuwen using Lancome. He wanted to go for an all eyes look with fresh skin and muted lips.
Makeup How-to:
-Face: Teint Miracle Foundation, Star Bronzer Long Lasting Bronzing Powder Natural Matte in Sunbath, Eclat Miracle (top of cheeks and down the nose), Blush Subtil in Shimmer Mandarin Sky (on the apples of the cheek)
-Eyes: Color Design Eye Brightening All-In-One 5 Shadow & Liner Palette in Coral Crush, Color Design Matte Eyeshadow in It List, Le Stylo Waterproof Eyeliner in Prune, Definicils Mascara in Noir
-Lips: Le Lipstique Lipliner in Bronzelle, L’Absolu Nu Lipstick in Sheer Mousse

Salma Hayek had her makeup done by celebrity makeup artist Kristofer Buckle
Makeup How-to:
`First, I blended in COVERGIRL NatureLuxe Silk Foundation in Nutmeg to accentuate her golden complexion.
I used COVERGIRL ExactEyelights Eye-Brightening Eyeshadow in Vibrant Brown to add drama to the upper lashline using a soft brush. Then with a flat lining brush used a metallic black closer to the lash line.
Then, I added two coats of COVERGIRL LashBlast Fusion Mascara in Black for extra pop! On her cheeks I used a peachy pink color, COVERGIRL & Olay Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Plush Peach.Lastly, I used a gold eye shadow on her cheek bones to give her an ethereal glow.
To finish her look, I used COVERGIRL LipPerfection lipcolor in Sultry.`

Sarah Jessica Parker had her makeup done by celebrity makeup artist Leslie Lopez
Makeup How-to:
Leslie started the look with CHANEL Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 in Beige Rosé- Tendre and CHANEL Éclat Lumière Face Pen in Medium, and then finished off the cheek with CHANEL Powder Blush in Rose Dust.
For the eyes, Leslie used CHANEL Fluid Iridescent Eyeshadow in Torrent and lined the inside of the eyes with CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Noir.
For the lips, she wanted a very pretty rose pink look and used CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine in Fétiche.

Sofia Vergara had her makeup done by celebrity makeup artist Kayleen McAdams
Makeup How-to:
`For skin I wanted her to have a silky, light look; I used COVERGIRL NatureLuxe Silk Foundation in Nutmeg and set that with COVERGIRL Clean Pressed Powder in Warm Beige and used COVERGIRL Cheekers Blush in Plumberry Glow. This gave her a warm look with soft cheeks.
We wanted to make the focus of this look the eye so we went with a strong black liner but as a subtle cat eye rather than a harsh line. In order to give the liner staying power, I like to layer different products. I started by lining the eye into a cat eye shape with COVERGIRL LiquilineBlast Eyeliner in Black Fire and then went over that same line with COVERGIRL LineExact Liquid Liner in Very Black.
I then blended dark chocolate brown eyeshadow starting from the outer corners and blending in towards the center. Along the bottom lash line I used the COVERGIRL LiquilineBlast Eyeliner in Brown Blaze and blended the liner with a black shadow to set it.
I then used two coats of the COVERGIRL LashBlast Fusion Mascara in Very Black to thicken the lashes and finish her look`.
